How do you know who is true and who is not?
You don't. Only God can truly know.
Someone you trusted may show that they can not be. But then again, it might be a one-time mistrust; or, closer to human nature...a temporary mistrust.
He/she may be going through something that is making them someone they are not for a season.
The seasons of life, in life, are always changing. You can not stop them. You can avoid them, and make them more comfy, but they persist.
But, what if someone is a true die-hard wolverine...seeking someone to devour? This, you will know. God promises to reveal these people to us, and He does. Do we always look out for them? nope.
That is how we get taken. We fall into slumber, trust, forgiving, and laziness-passing off trust as an excuse to "turn the other cheek" and "be a good friend".
Be careful.
Be forgiving, but be watchful.
